In an email in 2003, George Meigs at LBL writes

Hello Robix,
We need to mount protein crystals while keeping them at Liquid Nitrogen temperature. We've done this with a previous configuration of one of your robots, but we need a longer reach to get to our crystal storage dewar. I've included an image of the old robot, which we've named "Cool Hand Luke".

George goes on to request some specific materials which we were able to provide.And here's a photo of "Luke" that George attached.
